ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH INTERVIEW WITH DR. ANDREA VIDALI
March is #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth. What is Endometriosis, you may ask? Endometriosis is an extremely painful disease, where tissue similar to the tissue that normally lines the inside of the uterus, grows in other places, most commonly, the abdomen and pelvis. 1 out of 10 women worldwide suffer with endo, but yet, not enough research has been done to find a cause, or a cure.
Endometriosis is about as common as anxiety, or depression. Yet so many people (including doctors!) have never even heard of it, or have no clue how to treat it. People with endometriosis (or suspected endometriosis) are often dismissed by the medical community, even though the pain is, in fact, very very real. It’s an incredibly frustrating disease to have, which can often leave sufferers feeling hopeless, afraid, and alone. There’s a reason they refer to us as “Endo Warriors!”
… Yes, I said “us.” That’s right - I have endometriosis. That’s why, sharing this interview, and sharing my story, is so important to me.
Dr. Vidali is my endometriosis surgeon, and manages all aspects of my care. He’s a world-renowned reproductive endocrinologist and endometriosis surgeon. Hands down, one of the best experts I have found.
In this video, Dr. Vidali speaks to me about endometriosis and what people should know: including symptoms of the disease, treatment options, overall management, and how important the patient voice is when it comes to taking control of your health.
Please watch, share, and feel free to ask any questions in the comments!
For anyone struggling with endometriosis or even if you just suspect you might have it, I strongly encourage you to reach out to Dr. Vidali. He has been so great with me; the most patient and understanding doctor I’ve found. Follow him on Instagram to learn more.
