Featured Photo Shoot: August 2020

I won’t lie, with COVID this year, and [temporarily] moving back upstate, things have been a bit slow on the photography front. Well, on all fronts if I’m being honest. When I moved back upstate in March, I was still recovering from my excision surgery for stage IV endometriosis, which caused a very long pause in all things work-wise. I was dealing with chronic fatigue, soreness in my abdomen, low energy levels, and just generally feeling less than 100% and needing to listen to my body in terms of the amount of time I needed for recovery.

I had a few months during quarantine where I just did nothing. Absolutely nothing. But… the last few months have been a bit more creative-fueled, and even though I’m not shooting shows anymore, I’m still shooting. And that’s all that matters to me.

Being upstate has mostly been great, but being in a small town has definitely had its challenges (when compared to the city) for the type of shoots I like to do. No celebrities, no bands, just a bunch of random people I don’t / didn’t know. :) So… I’ve had to improvise. I’ve scheduled a few shoots for September with local influencers, and most recently, did a shoot with my beautiful niece, at a local beach - Mexico Point Park.

I wanted to share the full set of images because, honestly, I think these are some of the best photos I’ve ever taken in my entire photography career (and that’s saying a lot!). I’ve had time over quarantine to play around with different editing and photo techniques, as well as perfect my Lightroom presets, and I genuinely am so happy with the improvement in my photos. I feel like I just keep getting better and better, and am hopeful that I can eventually get to a point where this is all I do. (Fingers crossed, eh?)
